Copperheads Take 1st in Coach Coles debute to win the Martha Rivers Winter Elite
Copperheads 4 Mathhew Mavericks 3
Game 1 against the Matthews Mavericks ended up being a pitchers duel with Ethan Garrett pitching 5 strong innings and Joey Royko the final 2 innings. The Copperheads were down 2-1 after 5 innings and then gave up another run in the 6th to go into the bottom of the 7th trailing 3-1. Will Ray started the 7th of with a single followed by errors on the Mavericks on the next 2 batters that produced a run to score Will Ray. The Copperheads had men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out for Tyler to hit a single to left center to score both runs and the Copperheads won 4-3. Seth Hall had a Home run taken away from him when the umpire ruled that the ball bounced over the fence that took away 2 runs from scoring.
Copperheads 13 Blue Heelers 5
Game 2 the Copperheads took on the Blue Heelers and were able to win the game in the 6th innings 13-5 after producing 9 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Clint Jordan pitched 5 strong innings and Josh Cochran closed out the 6th. Ethan Garrett, Will Ray, and Tyler contributed with 2 hits a piece.
Carolina Tribe 10 Copperheads 7
Going into Game 3 on Sunday the Copperheads had already clinched the #1 seed for the championship game so game 3 gave them a chance to look at certain players in other positions. Seth Hall pitched 5 strong innings and ended up hitting a monster home run over left field fence. William Miller pitched the final 2 innings two innings strong to finish the game. The Copperheads lost the game 10-7 but went into the Campionship game the #1 seed.
Copperheads 13 BlueHeelers 9
The Championship game put the Copperheads against the BlueHeelers for a rematch of the day before. After a slow start the Copperheads Bats came alive in the 5th and 6th and the Copperheads went on to win the championship game 13-9. Josh Cochran pitched 5 strong innings to close out the game after Jacob Downer pitched the first 2. William Miller, Jacob Downer had Seth Hall had 2 hits a piece including another homerun by Seth Hall. Will Ray had 3 hits.
The Copperheads will take a couple of weeks off and then start light practice under the direction of Coach Coled over the winter as they get ready for the Spring season.
